Subject:   Political Activity/Hatch Act Web Streaming Presentation
To:   All OCFO Employees

Our Nation is in the midst of extensive political activities; therefore, as public servants we must act with prudence to ensure that our participation in political activities does not create real or apparent conflicts of interest with regard to the performance of our official duties. Under the Hatch Act, Executive Branch employees are subject to rules that limit their involvement in political activities. To give all Office of the Chief Financial Officer employees ready access to political activities [Hatch Act] guidelines continuously, a web streaming presentation is available at mms://151.121.2.21/content/da/ethics.wmv.

The video is approximately one hour. Employees wishing to view the session should make the request to their supervisors. Workload should be considered when scheduling a viewing. Also, public and confidential financial disclosure report filers who view the presentation will satisfy their annual training requirement.

The web streaming presentation is provided exclusively to ensure that employees fully understand their limitations under the guidelines of the Hatch Act. It is not provided to encourage or discourage employees' participation in political activities.

If you have questions or encounter situations not covered by the presentation, please contact your supervisor. Supervisors with inquiries should contact the Agency Ethics Office at 504-426-0308 or 504-426-0307.
