DirectPayment: Preauthorized Debits

A preauthorized debit is an electronic transfer of funds, through the Automated Clearing House system, from an individual's or company's bank account to the Federal Government. The National Finance Center, Direct Premium Remittance System debits from your account only after you, the remitter, have authorized it to do so. Preauthorized Debits let the National Finance Center collect payments automatically on a predetermined date. Checks are a thing of the past when you make the move to preauthorized debits. With the safety and security of electronic transfer of funds, you have the guarantee that your payment will be made, not lost in the mail.
